I can tell you who the Nautical Wheelers were. They were a group of older Square Dancers that danced at Sunset in Mallory Square in Key west.
I grew up in the keys (marathon) Used to watch the performers at the sunset celebration in Key West all the time. ( a nightly ritual).
Key West was a great place in the 70s before it became comercial, Lots of fishermen and musicians, and of course the long haired wanna be smugglers. They would be broke as can be, till they made a run to the Bahamas, then they were rich for a month or two then another run. I always say I don't mind the wrinkles now because they remind me of my days in the sun.
So many stories to pass along. I love this web site by the way. The poetry is great!!
